The History and Empowerment of Arts of Kenya
Kenyan arts and crafts reflect Kenya's rich heritage and culture. Kenyan artists can create stunning works of art that reflect their cultures and traditions.
The precolonial era is when Kenyan tribes first settled the country. This is where the history of Kenyan arts & crafts can be traced. Each tribe had its own culture and traditions which were reflected through their art and craft work. Western influences entered Kenya after it became a British colony. It resulted in a mixture of Western and traditional styles.
There has been a revival of interest in traditional arts of Kenya over recent years as people attempt to reconnect with their cultural roots. This has allowed Kenyan artists to be empowered and sell their work around the world.

• Samburu sandals: The Samburu is a nomadic tribe that lives in northern Kenya. The Samburu are well-known for their handcrafted sandals made from leather, decorated with shells or beads, and are well-known for their exquisite sandals.
